The Bombpops, MakeWar, Pass Away, & Invaluable at Taphouse!
Yooooo this is gonna be a banger! Schedule off work for Tuesday the 31st! Only $10! Don't miss out!
After two buzz-building EPs, SoCal punk quartet (and newest member of the Fat Wreck Chords family) THE BOMBPOPS are finally delivering with their highly-anticipated debut full-length, Fear of Missing Out. Their break out full length unleashes a sharp mix of intensity and poppiness, from the infectious harmonies of CA in July to the shotgun blast drive of Brake Lights and I Cant. THE BOMBPOPS teamed up with Chris Fogal of legendary pop-punk band The Gamits as producer, elevating their songs even further with his shine and polish. Although it was a long road to completion, this charged up pop-punk masterpiece was certainly worth the wait.
MakeWar first burst through the Southern Border Wall and onto the national stage from such shithole countries as Venezuela, Colombia and Florida in 2016. So, first things first: MakeWar is a mighty Voltron thats equal parts Venezuela (Jose: Guitar, vocals), Colombia (Edwin: Bass, Vocals) and Florida (Greg: drums). These are dudes that have overcome the third world poverty and squalor of Brooklyn and Florida to forge one of the most dynamic punk records in years, which they did with the help of Brett The Ratt Romnes of I am the Avalanche and The Movielife fame. After they finished writing and recording Get It Together, Greg got it so together that he took off to become a doctor of the mind. No mind, though. They enlisted the more than capable Matty Stolpe(of Lost in Society's Team Party fame) on the skins and now, MakeWar is re-Voltrond and charging harder than ever. To summarize here, MakeWar is THE punk band for todays increasingly polarized MAGA world: Furious, multicultural, packed with revolutionaries, friends to those in the cages, behind the walls and trapped in Florida, lovers and repurposers of classic art and style, from punk, to aughts-era-emo to art film to Los Fucking Crudos. These guys may not be the ones to personally usher in the revolution, but theyre damn sure gonna be the soundtrack.
Pass Away: 3 dudes who play punk rock and don't really give a shit about anything. 757 scene vet Mike Ireland comes back home with his band and brings their NYC punk rock with them.
Invaluable: VB punk rock fresh off their killer Tony Hawk Pro Skater cover set brings the local love. Maybe Keith will fall off the stage again. Maybe Rome will keep his back to the audience the whole time. Maybe Kevin will have the best looking drum set all night. Maybe Zach will show up. Don't miss these hometown heroes.
